“Gregory and I met through today’s modern world of technology – on the internet! He and I both ‘swiped right’ on bumble.com, and soon started messaging one another. Our first phone conversation was I was traveling for work in Las Vegas, where on that call we planned our first date soon after I would return to Atlanta. Our first date, though it may seem dark, was seeing A Star Is Born at the movies, October 20, 2018. At the time, I was ‘not dating’ and said that we were just friends, which lasted for maybe 3 dates… when sparks began. It was our third date when I became smitten with this quirky and cute guy who showed up to our date in a blazer. Gregory and I quickly felt the connection and began dating – becoming inseparable right from the start.
To catch me, Gregory had to run… and run a lot. 26.2 miles in fact. On our third date, when he learned I had signed up for a marathon, Gregory eagerly said “I want to run it with you!”. Little did he know what that would entail. Through much of our dating relationship being spent on long-distance runs and training for our first full marathon, we quickly learned we wanted our relationship to go the distance. Many discussions into our future together, Gregory kept asking me to chat with my parents, telling them how I felt of our relationship. In my mind signaled he hadn’t yet asked for their blessing–even on what turned out to be our engagement day!
Running a quick mile in the morning, Gregory said, “Can we go see your parents tomorrow?” I thought…”He’s not even asked them!” But surprise to me, Gregory had asked them already for their blessing long ago. On a special day together at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, Gregory asked that we find a quiet spot to pray, thanking God for all he’s done in our lives. At that quiet spot, after starting out the prayer, Gregory turned the attention to our lives, our relationship, and the question that would change our lives — “Hannah will you marry me and spend the rest of your life with me.” And I said yes!”
Congratulations, Hannah + Gregory!! xoxo, the OLAS Team
